One of Australia's most dedicated supporters of human rights and equal opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people is Jackie Huggins.
 (
She's an author, consultant, former co- commissioner for the Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Families, and supporter for the Recognise Campaign.

In the 1990's she was an outspoken leader and advocate for change for First Nations people, but the death of her mother left a gap in her life that needed to be filled.
