Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – Our Promise: A Brand New Day [Subtitled]
Grace Surpasses is a story about perseverance in a country where peace is an ancient relic and hope is a dangerous luxury. With nowhere to hide, each new day brings the potential for danger. By focusing on the experiences of one child, we get a glimpse into
the day to day realities of life in Southern Sudan, where the absence of clean drinking water, public health and a consistent food supply make even the most basic necessities of life a constant struggle. Grace and her family manage to thrive in the face of
adversity until a personal tragedy threatens to destroy Graces hope.

This collection of classic speeches contains inspiring hymns to democratic freedom and the noblest aspects of human endeavour, and some of the darkest and most despicable speeches delivered in modern times. Winston Churchill found the words not only to confirm the self-belief of the British people before WWII, but also wrapped them in glorious oratory that convinced the British that, against all the odds, they could win the war. Words and delivery can combine to galvanise an audience, creating I remember where I was when moments. JFK at the Brandenburg Gate or Martin Luther King at the Lincoln Memorial provide unforgettable examples which still stir today, some 50 years after they were made. In recent years it seemed that the era of searing oratory is over. But with the inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009, a new day dawned for those who appreciate the art of the spoken word

This is a podcast about education and my attempt to use classroom 2.0 tools in my classroom. I examine topics that often go unmentioned in education classes, professional development, and journals. In this crazy world of NCLB and amazing technologies entering the classroom, this podcast is a reminder that we need to first give children our love, not our thoughts. If you are focused on getting your kids to get higher test scores and learn facts, this is not the podcast for you. If you are focused on building relationships with your students and letting them develop the skills needed to survive in the 21st Century, then take a listen.

The following story captures the spirit of my podcast.
I awoke early, as I often did, just before sunrise to walk by the ocean's edge and greet the new day. As I moved through the misty dawn, I focused on a faint, far away motion. I saw a youth, bending and reaching and flailing arms, dancing on the beach, no doubt in celebration of the perfect day soon to begin.
As I approached, I sadly realized that the youth was not dancing to the bay, but rather bending to sift through the debris left by the night's tide, stopping now and then to pick up a starfish and then standing, to heave it back into the sea. I asked the youth the purpose of the effort. "The tide has washed the starfish onto the beach and they cannot return to the sea by themselves," the youth replied. "When the sun rises, they will die, unless I throw them back to the sea."
As the youth explained, I surveyed the vast expanse of beach, stretching in both directions beyond my sight. Starfish littered the shore in numbers beyond calculation. The hopelessness of the youth's plan became clear to me and I countered, "But there are more starfish on this beach than you can ever save before the sun is up. Surely you cannot expect to make a difference."
The youth paused briefly to consider my words, bent to pick up a starfish and threw it as far as possible. Turning to me he simply said, "I made a difference to that one."
I left the boy and went home, deep in thought of what the boy had said. I returned to the beach and spent the rest of the day helping the boy throw starfish in to the sea.

Hi. I am Robin Fisher. I read a lot.
And a fair chunk of what I read is comic books. I love to talk about comic books and have an enthusiasm that is hard to deny. I am a comic book activist and this is my show.
My mission in life is to brainwash every man, woman and child into realizing that comics are more than just juvenile pabulum. When done right they can be an amazing amalgam of art and literature. Comics can make you laugh, cry, think and feel just as much as your favorite movie or book.. While looking visually stunning at the same time. It’s my favourite medium. I know, there are comics out there for everyone, but they are hard to find. Let me be your guide. I’ll be your cartoon gal.
For the past 10 years I’ve been living, eating, sleeping and breathing comics. From writing comic
stories, to editing fund-raising anthologies. I’ve worked in comic book stores, I’ve written for The Comics Journal. I’ve attended comic conventions all along the West Coast and interviewed many.
But now, now it’s a whole new ballgame. New station, new day, new time slot and a whole wide world of Band Dessine to discover. I can’t wait. Montreal is a thriving hum of comic activity. Every week there is something incredible and comic related happening. There’s so much to learn and so much to share. I plan on exploring all avenues of the art form. Whether it be cartoons, action figures, fashion illustration, poster art, movies, music, anything and everything to do with the graphic arts, it shall be covered.
Musically I’ll be playing some new and neat stuff (Bat for Lashes and The Heavy) but I’ll be playing the oldies and goodies too. (Drop Nineteens, The Mills Brothers, Astrud Gilberto and Mike Ladd) The show will be bursting at the seams with variety.
So welcome. Welcome to The Onomatopoeia Show. Blowing your mind, one comic book at a time.
