This podcast will present classic old time radio programs from the late 1920's to the early 1960's. Popular shows such as "Suspense," "The Jack Benny Program," "Fibber McGee and Molly," and other comedies and dramas will be heard, but also rare and lesser known shows will be presented. All shows will be of high quality and I pledge that everything you hear will be clean, family-friendly entertainment. Shows won't be cut except for long music fills and tobacco commercials. The Terry Bonadonna Show features Old Time Radio (OTR) programming from the Golden Age of radio. It airs on Friday nights, 9:00 pm-midnight, from WXAV, 88.3 FM, in Chicago. The show features several genres: comedy starring radio greats like Jack Benny, Fred Allen, Jim and Marian Jordan (Fibber McGee and Molly), Bob and Ray, Burns and Allen; mystery programs (Suspense, The Whistler, I Love a Mystery); detective programs (The Shadow; Dragnet; Casey, Crime Photographer); westerns (The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke, Roy Rogers); science fiction (Dimension X); quiz shows (Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge, You Bet Your Life); sports; drama; history; and so on. The program first aired in September 2007, and most of the episodes are gathered here. Each program is roughly three hours in length. With the assistance of his guest bandleader (e.g., Benny Goodman, Glen Miller), host Terry Bonadonna guides listeners through a weekly tour of five or six programs he has chosen from the archives of radio's Golden Age. The Jack Benny Program, starring Jack Benny, was a radio-TV comedy series which ran for more than three decades and is generally regarded as a high-water mark in 20th-century comedy. Jack Benny (February 14, 1894 in Chicago, Illinois Ã¢ December 26, 1974 in Beverly Hills, California), born Benjamin Kubelsky, was an American comedian, vaudeville performer, and radio, television, and film actor. He was one of the biggest stars in classic American radio and was also a major television personality. Benny was renowned for his flawless comic timing and (especially) his ability to get laughs with either a pregnant pause or a single expression, such as his signature exasperated "Well!".
