Eight Men Out
In this podiobook: "Being sundry explorations, made while afoot and penniless in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. These adventures convey and illustrate the rules of beggary for poets and some others."Published in 1919, this is poet Vachel Lindsay's description of his travels "afoot and penniless" across the southern and eastern United States, staying with strangers, reciting or trading poetry for dinner, and along the way, describing in stories and poetry, mostly stories, the people and places he encountered. Think "Travels With Charlie," minus the dog and the Winnebago, and much, much earlier. From the Dedication and Preface:"There are one hundred new poets in the villages of the land. This Handy Guide is dedicated to the younger sons of the wid earth, to the runnaway boys and girls getting further from home every hour, to the prodigals still wasting their substance in riotous living, be they gamblers or blasphemers or plain drunks; to the heretics of whatever school to whom life is a rebellion with banners; to those who are willing to accept counsel if it be mad counsel."If you remember the 1960's, you'll feel right at home. If you wish you remembered the 1890's, here's your chance. You might also feel right at home, at that.

LISTEN and LEARN on the Rogue Trader Show
A "Rogue" is someone who separates from the herd, someone who is independent and free-thinking. A "Rogue Trader" accepts responsibility for managing his or her own money in the financial markets rather than blindly relinquishing control to others.
Each and every week, the Rogue Trader is your voice in the wilderness, helping to shed light on how you can protect and grow your money. The Rogue Trader Show believes education is the foundation of successful trading. Without education, market participants are merely gamblers – not traders. Educated traders are skilled at managing risk and identifying high-probability trading opportunities.
The Rogue Trader Show regularly interviews top professional trading instructors from all over the world. We’ll discuss all the asset classes (stocks, options, futures and forex) in addition to covering topics like trading plans, technical analysis, ETFs, direct access, Social Security, 401ks and mutual funds . And with so many active successful traders in the area you’ll hear from real people about how trading has changed their life.
If you're smart enough to realize that "buy and hold" is a thing of the past, that most mutual funds will underperform the market, and that nobody cares more about your money than you, then lock your radio dial to The Rogue Trader Show.
Saturday afternoons at 4PM on Newsradio KMBZ 980AM and 98.1FM.

"Conversations about Gambling" has been broadcast on WUFO 1080 AM, from Buffalo, NY, 12:30-1:00 pm, every Monday since April 4, 2010. Its purpose is to educate and inform the community, and to encourage conversation on the subject of gambling, which has often been ignored, misunderstood, or blindly accepted - despite its increasing impact on the economic and social health of our communities. Our website, conversationsaboutgambling.org, provides basic information and links to related websites. We have interviewed guests with experience and/or expertise in a number of areas. They have included:
Judge Mark Farrell (founder of Gambling Treatment Court),
Robert Schulman (a pediatrician who has worked with teen gambling problems),
Sandra Adell (professor of African-American Studies, U. of WI/Madison, author of CONFESSIONS OF A SLOT MACHINE QUEEN: A MEMOIR)
James David Audlin (Distant Eagle) and Doug George Kanentiio (Native American opponents of casino gambling),
Les Bernal and Tom Grey (officers of the national anti-gambling organization, Stop Predatory Gambling)
Joel Rose and Mary Bartley (current and former co-Chairs of CACGEC)
Charlotte Wellins (educator and gambling recovery expert)
A number of recovering compulsive gamblers and family members, participants in GA and Gam-Anon, who discuss their experiences with addiction and recovery.
We have also had some strictly call-in programs, and have received a number of calls from community members, with various concerns about gambling.
