Today, as I update this on October 31, 2009, the COW itself is over eight years old, opening in April of 2001. But the story goes back much further than the COW and the success of the COW is far from the "overnight success" many assume.

5 Big Ideas to create extra leads
that won’t cost you a cent.
By Ray Wood
Big Idea number 1
‘Breed’ your contacts with the right questions
With the right offers and questions, your established contacts are a goldmine of fresh leads just waiting to be discovered. Simply create a limited special offer and call your contacts with the good news.
Big Idea number 2
It’s not what you know.
Building your professional contacts is a sure-fire way to get extra leads.
Big Idea number 3
Create The Property Report for your area and publish it quarterly
Finding sales data is easy so here’s a great way to offer property owners in your area something they will want to know. Again, I’m basing this big idea on the fact that the best marketing methods are the ones that target your market with what’s in it for them (not the other way around)
Big Idea number 4
Build a personality blog or website and promote it everywhere
The great thing about technology is that once you master it, you will have it for life and you will impress the heck out of any potential contact who is into technology and that number is growing by tens of thousands every day.
You can create a website for a few hundred dollars or a Blog for free. Go to Worpress.com or typepad.com and see what you can do.
Big Idea number 5
Join a business group or start your own
If you are not doing this, it’s costing you money in lost fees. There are business groups like BNI, which stands for Business Network International that allows one of each profession to join and network with other members. The thing about a good business group is that when you get a quality collection of like-minded professionals all looking to give and receive referrals, it can’t fail.
If your local BNI chapter already has a real estate professional then look at starting your own. You will need to drive it and get it going. Plan to meet on say the first Wednesday of each month at a nice cafe at 7.30am and get into it.
