Although born in The Netherlands (1968) in the late 70’s his parents decided to move to the U.S. on a farm in a tiny village in the state of Vermont. After completing highschool he decided to spend some time in Holland to see what his home country was like after 7 years. In 1988 he completed two years of international school in Leiden and went to pursue an academic education in Amsterdam. During his studies in psychology Bart spent a vast amount of time going out to clubs like the Roxy and It.
Since ’92 b-ART has played at most of the major clubs in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. Although he mainly focuses on deep house and lounge his musical interest is very broad, stretching from plain and straight forward disco and 60’s rock to drum ‘n bass and Jazz. In the mid 90’s he was chosen as one of the most talented upcoming DJ’s by Eddy de Clercq, the dutch godfather of house. Bart has played with Eddy at many different events.
Due to lack of Deep House and variety in general in the Amsterdam club scene over the past several years Bart initiated a new party organisation named Pizazz! (for more info check http://www.pizazz.nl/) which was launched in November ’99 and has been successful ever since. Playing together with international deejays such as Jef K, DJ Deep, Abacus, Johnny Fiasco, Miguel Migs, Mateo& Matos, Gene Farris, JT Donaldson, Jon Cutler, Luke Solomon, Nick Holder, and Rasoul, Bart has managed to introduce a warmer and ‘deeper’ sound to the Amsterdam club life.
Besides being one of the finest deephouse DJ’s in The Netherlands, Bart is also a renowned lounge deejay playing silky and jazzy lounge sounds at beach-clubs, bars and clubs throughout the country.
